Situation
Crucibles need to be cleaned on a regular basis due to accumulated deposits of bath material and aluminium on the interior sides and bottom, which reduces the capacity of the crucible after several operations.
Problem
Crucibles are often cleaned manually or with machines after cooling to room temperature, which means time, money and refractory damage; operators are exposed to noise and dust.
Solution
STAS has developed and commercialised a hot crucible cleaner, which can clean rapidly with an optimum cutting action not only hot but cold crucibles in a few minutes. Due to the automatic action of the cleaner, there are considerable savings with operators no longer required. Both single and dual head machines are available for different crucibles.
